The Social Impact Lab is a two-month design marathon focused on making a difference in our local community through social impact design. We are excited to be partnering with New Avenues for Youth this spring to help design creative solutions for resilient youth in the era of COVID-19.

We are so excited to learn more about you and your interest in the Social Impact Lab! This application will give our organizers a chance to learn more about you and your background.

Before you complete this application, please be read the Spring 2020 Lab Overview, which details the upcoming lab and explains more about our exciting partnership with New Avenues for Youth.

DECIDE WHICH TRACK YOU WISH TO APPLY FOR

  • Track A: How might we design a digital resource hub that can be used to support the New Avenues for Youth ILP mentor program?

  • Track B: How might we rapidly build (internal or external) capacity for the increase in shifts in informal and formal learning to meet the needs of transitional foster youth during the COVID-19 outbreak?

  • Track C: How might we rapidly mobilize the community to support workforce (including development) needs of transitional foster youth during the COVID-19 outbreak?

  • Track D: How might we rapidly encourage social behavior and distancing necessary to protect transitional foster youth? during the COVID-19 outbreak?

  • Please anticipate setting aside about 20-25 minutes to complete this application in full.

  • If you wish to receive financial assistance to help with the lab fees, you will want to indicate your interest in the application below and submit the separate Lab Scholarship Application to complete your application.

  • You should anticipate hearing from our team within 72 hours with a decision regarding your application

  • No payment is required with your application.

WHAT’S NEXT?

  • Once your application is accepted, you will have 72 hours (3 days) to secure your registration with a $99 nonrefundable, nontransferable deposit. This deposit goes towards your total lab fee. You will also have the option to pay your lab fee in full.

    • If you received a lab scholarship or were identified as a lab fellow, you will have 72 hours (3 days) to secure your registration. Specific instructions will be forthcoming with your acceptance.

  • If applicable, pay the remainder of your lab fee before the lab launches on Monday, May 6th. Early Registration Lab Fee applies if you pay in full before midnight on Thursday, April 30th.

  • Once registered, you will receive a welcome email that contains onboarding information to the lab. Team leads will be checking in with all team members to schedule a kickoff meeting and set up expectations for regular check-ins.

    • Wednesday, June 3rd at 7 pm - Workshop #3: Prototyping + Gathering Feedback

      Friday, June 6th and Saturday, June 7th - Lab Impactathon*

      Wednesday, June 17th at 7 pm - Community Celebration
