Lab Application for PDX:SP19
The Social Impact Lab PDX is a two-month design marathon focused on making a difference in our local community through social impact design. We are excited to be partnering with Portland Fire & Rescue this spring to help co-create community-based "blueprints" to help improve the places where we live, work, and play.
We are so excited to learn more about you and your interest in the Social Impact Lab PDX! This application will give our organizers a chance to learn more about you and your background.
Before you complete this application, please be sure you have read about or reviewed the information available online about the upcoming PDX Lab and the Social Impact Lab’s exciting partnership with Portland Fire & Rescue’s Blueprint for Success project.
Formal lab participation by application only. Design experience not required.

Please anticipate setting aside about 20-25 minutes to complete this application in full.
If you wish to receive financial assistance to help with the lab fees, you will want to indicate your interest in the application below and submit the separate Lab Scholarship Application to complete your application.
You should anticipate hearing from our team within 72 hours with a decision regarding your application
No payment is required with your application.
Once your application is accepted, you will have 72 hours (3 days) to secure your registration with a $99 nonrefundable, nontransferable deposit. This deposit goes towards your total lab fee. You will also have the option to pay your lab fee in full.
If you received a lab scholarship or were identified as a lab fellow, you will have 72 hours (3 days) to secure your registration. Specific instructions will be forthcoming with your acceptance.
If applicable, pay the remainder of your lab fee before the lab launches on Monday, May 13th. Early Registration Lab Fee applies if you pay in full before midnight on Sunday, May 5th.
Once registered, you will receive a welcome email that contains onboarding information to the lab. Team leads will be checking in with all team members about one week prior to the lab launch date to schedule the orientation + kickoff meeting and set up expectations for regular check-ins.

COMPLETED - Tuesday, April 30th - Social Impact Design Workshop: Blueprint for Success Deep-Dive - Prospective lab participants are invited to preview the data from the blueprints in order to craft a compelling focus or design challenge
COMPLETED - Tuesday, May 7th - Social Impact Lab + Blueprint for Success Idea Launch: Prospective lab participants are invited to pitch their ideas to a panel, who will select areas of focus for the lab
